1 out of 5 stars You Gotta be Kidding Me   September 8, 2010

Really Olympus. I bought your camera, and it comes with no charger, no manual, and no memory card. I will give you the card and the charger, but trying to charge me $10 to send a manual so I can learn how to use it. Ya gotta be kidding right? Absolutely not. $10 for a manual, or sit on the phone for hours to ask questions. How they figure this is more productive than including a manual is beyond me. There is a reason ther is an hour wait. I don't even know if the camera is any good cause I can't use anything but the simple functions without a manual. I actually took a picture, but can't view it! Movies forget it, flash maybe it has one, I can't find it. If for no other reason, this camera is going back because of the rudeness of Olympus. I have had to ask for the manual before from other cheap companies, but not been charged. Yes Olympus I want to print out 100 pages with my printer so you can pretend you are green, all the while I am using thrice the paper you would, and still not satisfied with a clumsy loose leaf manual. If I did print it out, I would need to carry around a full 9 x11 book instead of one that fit in the camera case. Duh!!!!!!!! Be mindful people, is this the kind of company you want to deal with??????????????

1 out of 5 stars Camera Leaked On 2nd Use   September 5, 2010
Wilber Bergado (Hawaii)
I just got the Olympus 8010 last month and yesterday was only the 2nd time I've used it in the ocean. Sadly to say, the camera stop working because moisture had gotten inside. I had also purchased the floating strap with it and I had the camera in my pocket while snorkeling. The camera came out of my pocket and I found the floating strap close by with no camera attached! I'm not sure how it got separated from the strap but the camera is now a total loss. The only way I will buy another camera to take underwater is if I also buy the special underwater housing made for it. Yes, I now that that may also leak but at least you can test it first. I've also read from other reviews that if the camera leaks, Olympus will not fix it under warranty.

5 out of 5 stars amazing camera!   August 27, 2010

Amazing camera, Amazing pictures!
The pictures on the camera itself looked pretty descent. But once I uploaded them to my computer the quality was amazing. I think its just the screen on the camera isn't that great.
I took this camera to the beach and in the middle of pushing the button to take the picture a wave knocked me over. The picture still came out perfect!
I am super pleased I bought this camera, it has lots of functions and extras for you to mess around with if you want.

5 out of 5 stars Good family camera   August 25, 2010

So far we have used this camera for tubing down a river and snorkeling on Grand Cayman and it has been great. The kids can grab it and take pictures and we don't have to worry if they drop it, and they have. It has been in the water a lot and has shown no leakage. It does help your picture quality if you learn the settings. The automatic setting does not do as well. We also have gotten some good video in and out of the water.

This has been a great family camera for us.

5 out of 5 stars Great camera for busy families   August 24, 2010

We bought this camera because we're a very active family. We spend most of our time outdoors and on occassion leave things within reach of our smaller, more destructive, children. It's not uncommon to find our house phone in the backyard, covered in dew, or hear the tv remote bouce off a wall because someone thought it could fly...life with four kids from ages 3 to 7 is busy and unpredictable. What better camera to have than one that is shock, water and crush proof?! We're still getting used to all the fun features but by far the best is the HD video. Recording video was never as easy as it is with this camera. There's a designated record button so that you never mistakenly record video when you wanted to take a photo or visa versa. We haven't tested all the proofs just yet but time will tell. So far, so good.
